Who is the Derila pillow most suitable for?
The Derila pillow has a unique ergonomic shape, with side support wings and a central neck contour.
This design is intended to position your head at the right height while sleeping on your back, while also offering lateral support.
Flip the pillow 180° and you’ll find that the dip is slightly sloped, a feature meant to provide more comfort for different sleep positions [1].
This makes the Derila memory foam pillow particularly suitable for those after ergonomic support.

How comfortable is the Derila pillow?
Comfort is subjective, though our testers didn't have the best experience during our Derila pillow review.
- One of our testers, who prefers flatter pillows with even foam layers, like the Emma Original pillow or Emma Premium Foam pillow, found that the support offered by the Derila pillow didn't feel natural
- Another tester, who generally enjoys sculpted pillows like the Groove pillow or the Derila Ergo pillow, felt that the standard Derila pillow was too small and too low-loft to offer adequate back sleeper and side sleeper support
Smaller builds, however, might find that the Derila pillow is the perfect match for side and back sleepers.
Is the Derilla pillow suitable for side sleepers?
The shape of the Derila pillow is designed for side sleeping, and you're meant to rest your head on the raised “butterfly” wings.
This height can work for some sleepers, but not everyone will find the neck contour comfortable.
In general, even though the pillow has a loft of 13 cm (5.11"), we found it too small to offer adequate support and consistently rolled off the sides.
Is the Derilla pillow suitable for back sleepers?
Back sleepers may find the central dip in the pillow useful – it’s designed to cradle your head and promote spinal alignment.
But there’s a catch: Very few people stay on their back all night.
Most of us are combination sleepers, changing positions during the night, and that’s where the Derila pillow’s fixed shape can become a drawback.
If you move a lot, you might find the dip restrictive or even awkward.
Is the Derila pillow suitable for stomach sleepers?
Although the manufacturer claims that the Derila memory foam pillow is suitable for all positions, we wouldn’t recommend it to stomach sleepers.
Sleeping on your stomach generally puts strain on your neck, and this pillow is simply too high for this position.
If you're a committed stomach sleeper, a very flat pillow – or no pillow at all – is often the better choice.
Alternatively, we'd suggest looking at adjustable pillows, where you can remove one, two, or more layers (depending on the pillow design) to find the perfect height for your build and sleeping position.

Derila pillow composition
There are two parts to the Derila pillow: the memory foam core and the removable outer cover.
Derila pillow memory foam core
The Derila comprises a blue polyurethane foam layer with small perforations designed to improve airflow.
These perforations help the pillow remain more breathable during the night.
Technically, the Derila is made from memory foam and it should mould to your head for support - but it feels firm, with barely any contouring effect.
It bounces back quickly after pressure is applied:
This suggests that the foam quality isn’t the highest.
In comparison, pillows like the Emma Pillow use premium-grade foam with a noticeably better feel.
Derila pillow cover
The cover of the Derila pillow is removable and washable at 40 °C.
It features breathable mesh panels along the sides, designed to improve ventilation.
That’s a big plus, especially when dealing with a denser foam core that tends to retain heat.
We found the zip easy to use, and the fabric itself felt smooth and of reasonably high quality.
However, we did spot some loose threads on the inside lining:
This shouldn’t really be the case in this price range.
It's worth keeping in mind that the unique shape of the Derila pillow and smaller design mean that you may have trouble finding suitable pillowcases!

Size and weight of the Derila pillow
The Derila pillow measures 50 x 30 cm (19.6" x 11.8") and has a height of around 13 cm (5.11") on the highest edge.
This makes it one of the more compact memory foam pillows we've tried.
It's also fairly lightweight and only weighs 660 grams, making it ideal for those who travel often or those needing a second pillow for on-the-go comfort.

Even though the pillow is priced at over £100, it does have a continous discount attached to it, so you'll rarely have to pay the full price.
There are also bundle deals available, and you'll save a fair bit if you buy more than one pillow at a time.

Derila pillow delivery, trial, and return conditions
Unfortunately, Derila UK does NOT offer free delivery.
This is unusual since most UK brands offer free shipping across the board.
We received our Derila pillow fairly quickly after ordering, and communication via WhatsApp and email was smooth and informative.
The pillow comes tightly compressed, which is ideal for shipping, but the packaging involved a lot of plastic – not ideal if you’re trying to be environmentally conscious.
As with many compressed foam products, there was a slight off-gassing smell at first – not necessarily due to the foam itself, but rather a result of the packaging and compression process.
If you’re sensitive to odours, we recommend airing the Derila memory foam pillow out for a few hours before use.
Can I return the Derila pillow?
Technically, yes – but it’s not as simple as it sounds.
Derila advertises a “30-day satisfaction guarantee”, but here’s the fine print:
- Full refund: Only possible if you return the pillow unused and unopened within 14 days
- From day 15 onwards: Only the product price is refunded – delivery charges are non-refundable
- Return shipping: You have to pay for return shipping yourself, and the pillow must be returned in its original packaging
Some Derila pillow review complaints on Trustpilot mention frustrating experiences with returns, with several users saying they struggled to get a response or had issues with refunds.
We didn’t return our own Derila pillow UK this time, so we can only reference past experience (see our FAQ below for more details), which wasn't favourable.

Should you buy the Derila pillow?
The Derila pillow didn’t fully convince us – the foam felt average and the fit wasn’t ideal for our testers.
Still, it might work for you, depending on your build, sleep position, and mattress.
It's also a great travel-friendly option, and ideal for those looking for a small, compact pillow.

One of the claims made by Derila is that the pillow can help reduce snoring.
In our test, we didn’t notice any significant improvement in our tester’s partner’s snoring while using the pillow.
This is likely because the pillow was too small to make a noticeable difference.

Is the Derila pillow suitable for children?
This depends.
Generally, we'd recommend smaller children to use specially-designed pillows, like the Panda Kids pillow, which better suit their smaller size and growing bodies.
But, this depends on the build and age of the child.
Most tweens or teens would be able to sleep quite comfortably on the Derila, and may actually be a great fit here due to its slightly smaller size.

Is the Derila pillow legit?
The Derila pillow is a real product and ships quickly – but reviews are mixed.
Some customers on Trustpilot mention issues with returns and unexpected extra charges.

How did the return process for our Derila pillow go the first time?
While we didn't return the pillow we used for our last pillow test, we did return a previous version, which was quite a nightmare.
To return the Derila pillow, we first received a return form from customer service, along with an RMA number and a return address.
We then packed the Derila pillow into a box and clearly marked the RMA number on the outside of the parcel.
After that, we were required to send the tracking number for the return shipment via a returns link by email.
The process felt a bit more complicated than necessary.
We had to make sure not to forget the tracking number, as the warehouse could have rejected our return without it.
Shipping costs are also not refunded – unless the Derila pillow is found to be faulty.
When it came to the return process, we noticed significant differences compared to other pillow manufacturers, who offer much better standards for their customers.
Panda is one of the best in the UK, and they offer two fantastic pillows, the standard Panda memory foam pillow and a unique Panda hybrid pillow.
